Plausibility monitoring of mechanical chokes
The plausibility monitoring of bgu-Umweltschutzanlagen GmbH is used to check the function of a throttling device. It detects when the throttle is mechanically blocked (e.g. by wood or heavy dirt). With this information, maintenance or repairs can be scheduled to save time and money.
During heavy rainfall, the throttle controls the amount of water in the sewer system. The controlled flow can prevent downstream structures (e.g. treatment plants) from being overloaded. Plausibility monitoring can be used to minimise additional water pollution in the event of throttle malfunction.
How does it work?
In the course of the plausibility check, a monitoring system is set up in the upstream water by means of throttle end position and level measurement, which is used to check the function of the throttle. A sensor (radar or pressure sensor) measures the level in the upstream water.
An end position sensor on the throttle controls the times at which the initial state is reached. The data obtained shows whether the mechanical function of the throttle device is still fulfilled.
