Features of Server Version 50

Table of Contents

Server version 50 is available! As described below, the new features offer more reliability, a faster overview and easier handling in your daily activities.

Interface revision

For a simple and fast operation of the interface, processes are constantly being improved. In the current revision, a context menu for sites has been added. The following icon can be used to delete sites, check attachments or place site pins. In addition, various logs for the site and the device can be found there:

Performance improvement of the API

To further improve the reliability of the API, a limit on API calls has been implemented. If too many calls are made in too short a time, the API calls are rejected with a corresponding error message. This ensures that the API cannot be blocked or slowed down by too many simultaneous calls.

MyDatanet is now more scalable

Several myDatanet Server API’s can now be combined into a cluster. This makes it possible to retrieve data without knowing on which server it is located. This is a decisive advantage, especially for very large applications.

Visual customisation in the store

From version 50 onwards, you can see in the Store which phase an app is in. The shield icon means that this is a staging app.

In addition, the release info can be opened via the version number.

OPC-UA SCADA-System
Applications

Interface to your process control or SCADA system

The open interfaces of the Microtronics IoT Platform via RESTful API and OPC-UA enable easy integration of the data into the desired target systems such as process control or SCADA systems. Some suppliers have already integrated the data loggers directly.

2G/3G Sunset – Modernise your device fleet

Constantly growing demands on data transmission and the desire for future-proof technologies are challenging network operators. To make room for future-proof transmission technologies such as 4G, NB-IoT and 5G, older technologies are being switched off. Swisscom, for example, has already switched off the 2G network in Switzerland in 2019. In 2021, Vodafone and Deutsche Telekom switched off 3G in Germany. In Austria, Magenta 2024 has switched off 3G. A1 plans to do the same by the end of 2024.

The freed-up frequency spectrum makes room for new modern technology such as 4G and 5G. We have summarised more about the development of mobile technologies and 4G with NB-IoT and M1 for you in “4G is not just 4G”.
