How rapidM2M contributes to your efficiency

Table of Contents

Efficiency is one of the cornerstones of the rapidM2M technology. Compared to most of the classic M2M solutions, it offers the following benefits:

  • Reduction of the annual volume of transmitted data by factor of 45
  • Readout rate of up to more than 99% , even if field strength is lower than -100dBm
  • Rate of successful connections increased by 30 % on average

Reducing the annual volume of transmitted data

A smart metering example should serve as an example. Typically smart metering applications require a data recording every 15 minutes. For a rapidM2M solution this means:

A data recording every 15 minutes with rapidM2M results in an annual volume of transmitted data of 4,8 MB (including data transmission overhead and billing increment).

Compared to other http(s) based protocols that can require an annual data traffic up to more than 200 MB, with rapidM2M the data traffic can be lowered by factor of 45. This is crucial for a successful M2M / IoT business model to avoid losing track of amounts of data and costs.

Even international projects become calculable with rapidM2M. The low data traffic enables permanent data transmission. Combined with the globally applicable data transmission at internationally standardised service rates (included in Managed Service), worldwide data roaming at economically low costs is enabled.

High readout rate despite low field strength

Especially in outlying areas, in cellars or control cabinets the field strength is often bad. As an example let’s have a look at an environmental monitoring application in the fields of hydrology. In sewers for example where a data logger collects hydrogen sulphide values  the field strength can be very low.

With the rapidM2M technology it is possible to achieve an average readout rate of measuring sites of more than 99% percent, even at a very low field strength of -100dBm.

Compared to classical M2M solutions, that often achieve only a readout rate of 80 % already at a field strength of  -90dBm, the efficiency of rapidM2M becomes obvious. It is for example ideal for smart metering applications since the field strength in meter boxes is often very low. The rapidM2M technology however contributes to a stable and reliable operation of M2M / IoT applications.

Increasing the rate of successful connections

To transmit data from a measuring site (e.g. smart meter or hydrogen sulphide sensor) to a cloud system, a connection between the both has to be established. A low field strength can contribute to a sinking rate of successful connections.

The rapidM2M technology enables to increase the rate of successful connections by an average of 30%.

This contributes to the stable and efficient operation of your applications. This is especially important for applications that require uninterrupted documentation – for example in the fields of environmental monitoring, energy monitoring or health care.

7 essential functions that a data logger must offer in environmental technology

In modern environmental technology, data loggers play a decisive role in recording, monitoring and analysing environmental parameters. But not all data loggers are the same. A high-quality device is characterised by certain functions that are essential for effective environmental monitoring. Here are the seven most important functions that such a data logger should offer.
